New feature: Select your Delivery Preference. After launch, several users wanted to receive news from TweetMeNews from a method other than Twitter’s direct messages. The community spoke and we listened. Users can now select one of three delivery methods, options include:

Direct Messages aka DMs
Mentions (@ScreenName story would go here)
TweetMeNews Dashboard Only

We’re excited to be able to offer these options a few days after launch and hope you’ll enjoy the update. If you’re already a TweetMeNews user, click the settings link in the upper-right navigation area. If you aren’t yet a member of TweetMeNews, join today!
If you have any other methods you’d like to see added, let us know.

TweetMeNews Launch Update

It has been 20+ hours since TechCrunch’s Leena Rao broke the news about our launch. Since then we’ve recieved hundereds of valuable suggestions on how TweetMeNews can be improved. The majority of the comments have been focusing around the following areas:

  • Direct Messages - Not everyone is loving DMs as the main method of delivering stories.
  • Timeliness - News stories older than a few hours are unexceptable to the Twitter community
  • Breaking News - TweetMeNews needs to deliver breaking news stories faster
  • Personalization - Several comments came in asking for the ability to personalize the settings even more
  • Overall Story Quality - Keep raising the bar. Be better than Techmeme in all the news categories

We are going to be working down the list and continuing to make updates based on the comments and requests we recieve. Stay tuned - we’ll be releasing updates soon!

Curious what TweetMeNews looks like a day after joining the site? Take a look at a screenshot I took which shows the site’s dashboard.
What do you think? Love it? Hate it?

And We’re Live!

I’m thrilled to announce that TweetMeNews has launched Tuesday at 9pm PST. The initial service is young and buggy yet full of potential. I hope others enjoy theĀ TweetMeNews service and suggest ways we can improve the service. Don’t be shy, we’d love to hear your comments on topics including:

1. New Categories you want added (auto? celebrity?).

2. Sources you wanted added to existing or new categories.

3. Anything else that you think we can do better!
